WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - March 16, 2012 - JDL Fast Track today announced a partnership with the Southern Conference, an NCAA Division I conference, to host its 2013 and 2014 indoor track and field championships. The 2013 meet is February 23-24; the 2014 competition is March 1-2.

"We are looking forward to holding our next two indoor championships at the new JDL Fast Track," said Southern Conference Commissioner John Iamarino. "The initial reviews of the facility have been very strong, and we think this will prove to be a popular site for participants, coaches and spectators."

Assistant Commissioner for Championships Brandon Neff said, "The SoCon has been fortunate to compete in some of the best indoor facilities in the southeast, and the 2013 and 2014 championships will be no exception. The amenities and location of the JDL Fast Track are terrific, so we're very excited to host our next two indoor track and field championships here."

"With 450 athletes and 70 coaches and officials participating in the Southern Conference indoor track and field championships, and with JDL Fast Track's seating capacity of more than 1,000 spectators, these meets will have a substantial positive impact on Winston-Salem's hotel and restaurant industries," said JDL Fast Track owner David Shannon.

About JDL Fast Track

JDL Fast Track, one of the premier indoor track and field facilities in the southeast, is the brainchild of two former Wake Forest University runners and current real estate developers, David Shannon and Craig Longhurst, who identified and fulfilled a need for an area indoor track facility for use by colleges, high schools, local track clubs and youth track organizations.

The privately owned, dedicated indoor track and field facility, which opened in January 2012, houses a 200-meter oval track with a Mondotrack FTX surface-the same surface that will be used at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Field event areas include two pole vault runways, two long/triple jump runways, one high jump apron and one throws area. The facility also includes a 100-meter warm-up track, office and meeting-room space, a training room, and hospitality suites for coaches' or conference officials' meetings at large events.

About The Southern Conference

The Southern Conference, in its 91st season of intercollegiate competition, is a national leader in emphasizing the development of the student-athlete and helping build lifelong leaders and role models.
